Former W-League powerhouse reconvenes their UWS session in 2018

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Pride Soccer Club is proud to announce the return of the Colorado Pride to United Women's Soccer (UWS) for the upcoming 2018 season. Colorado will once again take part in the UWS West Conference. The Pride will be coached by A.J. Adcock and assisted by Kristie Braunston. They will play their home games at the UC Colorado Springs starting in early May with the season culminating with the UWS National Championship in late July.

"We are excited to welcome back the Colorado Pride to UWS," said UWS Commissioner Joe Ferrara, Jr. "The organization was one of the best in the USL's W-League and was one of the better run teams in our inaugural season."

"We are very excited to be back in the league as stepping away for a year was a hard decision," said Pride Executive Director Candy Brooks. "Colorado Springs families bring a passion and love for soccer that larger communities can only envy."

"I am looking forward to the opportunity and experience this summer competing against such high caliber teams and providing a place for collegiate and professional players to hone their skills," said Adcock.

Colorado has had success in the past, both within league competition and sending players to the professional level. Former Pride players Mallory Weber (No. 14 overall pick) and Brit Eckerstrom (No. 26 overall pick) were both part of the 2016 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Draft while Michaela Abam was selected No. 4 overall by Sky Blue F.C. in the 2018 NWSL Draft. Additionally, former Colorado striker Tara Andrews (2014-2015) has had two caps with the Australian Women's National Team since playing for the Pride.

PRIDE Soccer Club - the largest youth club in Colorado Springs - serves youth players ages 4 through 19 by offering Recreational, Intermediate, Junior Academy and Competitive soccer programs. Currently, the club has 85 competitive teams and over 2000 recreational players. Pride is also a member of the US Soccer Developmental Academy (DA) which includes elite-level boys teams in the U12-U14 age groups.

The club is very excited for this announcement allowing a pathway between our youth female club members and the professional ranks. More information will be listed on the club's PridetoPro.com website including tryout dates and times, schedules, player profiles and more.
