2019 UWS West Alignment & Schedule
UWS "Group of Death" Kicks Off on May 19
METUCHEN, NJ - United Women's Soccer has officially announced the alignment and schedule for the 2019 West Conference. Five teams will battle in the UWS “Group of Death” for the UWS National Championship trophy.
2019 WEST ALIGNMENT
MAY 19 | SANTA CLARITA vs LA GALAXY… The Conference season begins with a local derby of two of the top teams in United Women’s Soccer as 2016 National Champion Santa Clarita Blue Heat travel down Interstate 5 to take on cross-town rival LA Galaxy.
MAY 25 | SANTA CLARITA vs COLORADO PRIDE… The mantra Pride to Pro originated by the Colorado Pride was on full display with former Pride Lauren Millet being selected by the North Carolina Courage in the NWSL draft. The Pride host the Blue Heat, which had three players sign professional contracts with overseas clubs in the off-season – adding to a record 41 signings domestically and abroad of UWS players.
MAY 26 | CALGARY FOOTHILLS vs QUEEN CITY UNITED… On the topic of rivalries, the defending West Conference Champion Calgary Foothills WFC will meet the expansion Queen City United, the second Canadian team to join UWS, for country bragging rights.
WILD WILD WEST WEEKEND… The Colorado Pride will grab their popcorn in mid-June and watch its neighbors from the South travel to its neighbors in the North for a 4-team round robin that will have a great impact on the West playoff picture.
ORANGE COUNTY GREAT PARK… For the second consecutive season, the LA Galaxy will play its home matches in the elegant confines of Orange County Great Park. With a soccer-specific site and dynamic crowds, the grounds and atmosphere at OCGP serve as a beacon in United Women’s Soccer.
