Jacobs anchors Galaxy defense; Howarth scores hat-trick for Mutiny

METUCHEN, NJ - Action around the country picked up steam during Week II play in United Women's Soccer (UWS) as the Southwest & West Conference kicked off their season.

For her leadership in the backline, LA Galaxy OC's Natalie Jacobs has been named the UWS Defensive Player of the Week. Jacobs also scored a goal in their 4-0 shutout against rival Santa Clarita Blue Heat. On the other side of the country, NE Mutiny's Kate Howarth has been named UWS Offensive Player of the Week for her outstanding play & hat-trick in their 4-1 win over the Long Island Rough Riders. That puts Howarth at an impressive 54 career goals for New England.
