The defending United Women's Soccer (UWS) East Conference champion Lancaster Inferno saw a 39th minute tally stand up in a 1-0 victory over host New Jersey Copa FC. The only goal came on a cross from the far right wing by Teresa Rook, who slipped a ball across the box untouched before Haley Crawford netted her second goal of the season with a one-timer into the near side. Lancaster (2-1-0) held an 11-1 advantage in shots in the first half before NJCFC (1-3-0) turned the tables in the second half, outshooting the defending national runners-up by a 6-1 margin in the final 45 minutes. Andrea Leitner made five saves for New Jersey while Kelly O'Brien stopped five shots for the shutout.

The reigning UWS Most Valuable Player has picked up where she left off from last season, as Brooke Barbuto tallied a hat trick and an assist in the first-ever league win for Syracuse DA. The hosts defeated the Worcester Smiles via a 5-0 win with Caroline Kopp and Eva Gordon also adding goals. Binghamton University's Mackenzie Hanna picked up the shutout in goal for Syracuse (1-1-1), making four saves. Brittany Henderson made eight saves but allowed four goals before being replaced for the final half hour by Taylor Royd (three saves) for Worcester (0-4-0).

In a great display of soccer in front of a crowd of 700-plus fans, the New England Mutiny and Connecticut Fusion played to a 1-1 draw. With the result, both sides remained undefeated on the season. The hosts drew first blood in the 49th minute as Kate Howarth scored her 55th goal as a member of the Mutiny. Zoe Steck sent Howarth in alone on the Fusion goalkeeper for the 1-0 advantage. Connecticut (3-0-1) tied the game in the 61st minute on a set piece just outside the 18-yard box. Each team team could have walked away with the victory. Brooke Murphy hit the crossbar in the 22nd minute while the Fusion's Chanel Johnson also struck the bar in the 38th minute. Colombian National Team goalkeeper Catalina Perez had four saves for New England (2-0-1) while Allie Auger stopped six shots for the visitors.

Kerianne Scorce scored two goals to help lead the Long Island Rough Riders to a 2-0 road victory over the Rochester Lancers. With the victory, Long Island (3-2-0) moved into second-place in the UWS East behind Connecticut. The Rough Riders took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute on Scorce’s first goal of the season. Rochester (1-2-1) was unable to clear a corner kick that was lifted back into the box. Scorce pounced on the volley and hit it into the far post for a one-goal advantage. The score remained 1-0 at halftime. Scorce found the back of the net again in the 59th minute off a cross from Kayla Saager. Melissa Gugleilmo (four saves) was in goal for the second consecutive shutout for the Rough Riders. Former All-UWS selection Catie Broderick (four saves) picked up the loss in net for the Lancers.

After a tough start to the 2019 season, defending UWS Midwest champion Grand Rapids FC (1-2-1) notched their first conference win in impressive fashion on the road against the Michigan Legends (1-3-0). Riley Tanner notched a first half hat trick en route to the 6-1 victory. GRFC pressured right from the start and Tanner scored her first goal in the 20th minute on a 1v1 opportunity on the Legends goalkeeper. The University of South Carolina forward made it 2-0 in the 31st minute before putting the visitors up 3-0 right before halftime. In the 67th minute, Kendra Longoria tallied her second goal of the season for GRFC. Michigan got on the scoreboard in the 78th minute for the 4-1 score before allowing two more goals in the final ten minutes.

Lansing United have taken the early lead in the race for the conference crown with their strong 3-2 road win at the Indiana Union. The two sides traded goals before Camryn Evans scored the game winner in the 77th minute for Lansing (4-0-0). It was the second of the game (and third of the season) for the All-Big Ten selection from Michigan State University. The visitors opened the scoring in the 24th minute on a goal from captain Dani Stephan. Indiana immediately responded and earned a penalty kick just two minutes later and converted to tie the score. Evans put United ahead in the 38th minute and the team kept the lead into halftime. The hosts came from behind to tie the score again in the 52nd minute on a goal from Samantha Dewey. Evans came through twenty-five minutes later to put Lansing top of the Midwest table. Madison Clem and Grace Kraft combined to make nine saves in the win.

After a tough loss the night before to first-place Lansing United, Indiana Union bounced back and tallied a 3-2 win over perennial conference contender Detroit Sun. Samantha Dewey was the star again for Indiana (2-1-1), as the reigning Big East Midfielder of the Year notched a goal and two assists to help her side take over second-place in the Midwest. Cassidy Lindley opened the scoring for the hosts in the 12th minute but Detroit (2-2-0) immediately responded to tie the score at 1-1 on a Rachel Deluca goal. The Sun went up 2-1 in the 30th minute as Madison Schupbach dribbled in on goal and beat Union goalkeeper Hannah Sullivan (three saves). Six minutes later, Dewey tied the game at 2-2 on an unassisted effort against Detroit keeper Maggie Rogers (three saves). Monica Dolinsky tallied the game winner for Indiana in the 85th minute.

Michigan Legends swept the season series with AFC Ann Arbor, tallying their second 1-0 win this season over the Midwest newcomers. Michigan (2-3-0) opened the road match with the better possession but in the 37th minute, Tatiana Mason - the Audi of Ann Arbor Woman of the Match for the hosts - beat Legends goalkeeper Isabel Nino (three saves) but her left-footed shot hit the crossbar. AFC goalkeeper Victoria Norris (two saves) made a pair of crucial stops to keep the score at 0-0 going into halftime. Sofia Sweier (one save) took over keeper duties in the second half. In the 57th minute, Rachel Sweigard's right-footed shot grazed the post for the hosts. Three minutes later, though, Alexandra Thomas capitalized on a defensive miscue to take the 1-0 lead and the visitors did not relinquish it.

In front of an impressive home-opening crowd of 1,521, the San Antonio Athenians did not get the result they were looking for against the defending UWS champion Houston Aces. The match started off with both teams exchanging possession for the first twenty minutes. Houston (3-0-0) eventually became the aggressor and won the majority of the 50-50 balls. The Aces capitalized on their quick play for a 3-0 lead at halftime. San Antonio (0-1-0) came out with a sense of urgency in the second half but were unable to capitalize on numerous missed opportunities. A goal nullified by an offsides, a PK that went wide left and some set pieces that were turned away by a stingy Aces defense could've made the final score interesting. Athenians goalkeeper Michelle Cole made 12 stops in the loss while Houston's Alexis Espino made seven saves.

The Santa Clarita Blue Heat swept the season series with the Colorado Pride, getting their second win in seven days via a 2-1 result at home. Santa Clarita (2-1-0) opened the scoring in the 42nd minute on a free kick. Veteran defenders teamed up as Yadira Toraya found Lauren Sesselmann from 30 yards out. The score remained at 1-0 going into halftime. Colorado (0-2-0) tied the match at 1-1 in the 61st minute on Katie Smith's cross-shot after a Laryssa Hamblen corner kick. UCLA star Ashley Sanchez tallied a spectacular game winner eight minutes later, chipping Pride goalkeeper Alexis Walker (11 saves) from distance for the 2-1 score. Lauren Brzykcy (one save) played the first 45 minutes for the Blue Heat in net and picked up the win while Brooke Littman (two saves) came on in the second half.

On Sunday, it was a different Queen City United team that Calgary Foothills had defeated on the road the previous weekend. Calgary (2-0-0) knew it would be tough and it certainly was as Foothills WFC came away with a 2-1 win over Queen City (0-2-0) in front of a home crowd of 500. Tanya Boychuk's penalty kick in the 24th minute and a powerful header from Joelle Gosselin in the 79th minute led to the narrow victory and the sweep of the prairie derby. Taylor Bubnick scored the first-ever goal for United in the 52nd minute on her birthday, threading a free kick inside the far post past Calgary goalkeeper Emily Burns (three saves) through a crowd of players. The pace of the game slowed after the tying tally and it took Gosselin’s header on a cross from Bow Jackson at the far post to beat Kylie Bolton (ten saves) and nab all three points.

LA Galaxy OC netted two first half goals en route to a tight 2-1 win over the Colorado Pride (0-3-0). With the victory, LAGOC (2-0-0) is now in a three-way tie at the top of the West Conference standings alongside Calgary and Santa Clarita. The home side opened the scoring in the 8th minute on a nice passing exchange as Kate Weisner worked the ball from the center to Natsuna Sugishita on the left flank. Jordan Marada received the ball and her right-footed shot beat Colorado goalkeeper Alexis Walker (eight saves). In the 29th minute, Rebecca Wilson's one-touch pass found Lindsey Huie on the right side of the penalty area and her one-time shot with the outside of her left foot curled towards the far post. Walker got a hand to it but could not keep the ball out for the 2-0 score. Eliza Bona's goal in the 60th minute for Colorado made for a tense finale but the visitors could not find the tying goal.
