METUCHEN, NJ - The bow will be officially be tied on the 2019 United Women's Soccer (UWS) season with the announcement of our annual league-wide honor roll. This year, the national pro-am league has compiled three All-UWS teams to highlight the top performances - as nominated by the teams themselves in chronological order - in all four conferences. The individual awards for top Offensive and Defensive players highlight the youth and experience our league prides itself upon while a familiar face graces the dais for Coach of the Year plaudits.

Speaking of familiarity, as our league completes its fourth year of competition, a number of stars have formed their own ring of honor with multiple All-UWS selections. Out of the 33 players selected to the 2019 All-UWS Teams, seven have been named to the league's honor roll on two occasions while a trio have garnered three awards. Two-time honorees include Grace Stordy (Calgary Foothills Women's FC), Kylee McIntosh (Connecticut Fusion), Kelly O'Brien & Teresa Rook (Lancaster Inferno), Natalie Jacobs (LA Galaxy OC), Yadira Toraya (Santa Clarita Blue Heat) and Brooke Barbuto (Syracuse DA). Tatiana Ariza (Houston Aces, 2016-17 & '19), Haley Crawford (Lancaster Inferno, 2017-19) and Kate Howarth (New England Mutiny, 2016-17 & '19) have a remarkable three stars on their individual crests.

UWS Offensive Player of the Year: F Kate Howarth (New England Mutiny)

Kate Howarth has been a veteran leader for the New England Mutiny for close to a decade and had her best year in 2019. The team captain was named to the UWS Team of the Week on five occasions and tore up the UWS East with 18 goals and four assists during the regular season. Howarth's goals scored (18) and overall point total (40) set new league single-season records, topping Krystyna Freda's 2016 campaign when the former New Jersey Copa FC forward tallied 15 goals and 33 points. Howarth than added two more goals in the playoffs as the first-place Mutiny made it to the East Final before bowing out to the Lancaster Inferno in a back-and-forth encounter. The former professional is also the first player in league history to break "100" with 46 goals and 13 assists (105 points) in her four-year stint. Kate is now the all-time scorer for both the Mutiny and UWS.

UWS Defensive Player of the Year: GK Hillary Beall (LA Galaxy OC)

Hillary Beall is one of the up-and-coming talents in not only the collegiate game but at the international level as well. The United States U-20 international and University of Michigan goalkeeper sent a message to the UWS West in LA Galaxy OC's season-opening shutout win over perennial contender Santa Clarita. Beall was named to UWS Team of the Week for her efforts and over the course of conference play allowed only three goals. After another top performance against Santa Clarita to close the regular season that helped to clinch second-place in the West, her form peaked even higher in the post-season. It culminated in a 1-0 win (her fifth shutout of 2019) over Calgary Foothills Women's FC in the UWS Championship. The No. 1-ranked keeper nationally in the Class of 2017 led LAGOC in minutes played (630) in conference play and started all three post-season victories (two goals allowed).

UWS Coach of the Year: Troye Flannery (Calgary Foothills WFC)

Just like there are a group of players forming a ring of honor in our league, there is one coach starting to rise above his peers as well. Troye Flannery is the first-ever two-time UWS Coach of the Year selection. This honor follows his third straight West COTY selection - another singular mark - which was announced earlier this week. Calgary Foothills Women's FC captured their second consecutive conference crown in 2019. It continued a series of firsts for both coach and organization which included hosting the UWS National Championship. Flannery has filled up his awards cabinet over the past year as the University of Calgary mentor was honored as the Canada West and U SPORTS (the national governing body of university sport in Canada) Coach of the Year last fall. Troye has compiled an impressive 18-7-4 record in three seasons while never suffering a losing campaign.
