METUCHEN, NJ - The third week of the college season has passed and after a few weeks of acclimation the action is now at full speed. 2019 United Women's Soccer (UWS) Midwest Offensive Player of the Year Samantha Dewey has continued her strong play from her summer slate with the Indiana Union to the fall with Xavier University. Dewey was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after she collected four points in two wins for Xavier over the weekend. The All-UWS First Team selection assisted on the game winning goals against Kent State and Akron while tallying the insurance goal in the 2-0 win over the Zips - her fifth goal of the season.

Two former UWS stars garnered recognition from the Big Ten Conference as defender Hannah Drkulec (Detroit Sun) was named the Defensive Player of the Week for the University of Iowa while her college team mate Claire Graves (Indiana Union) grabbed Co-Goalkeeper of the Week honors for the Hawkeyes. Drkulec anchored a defense that did not allow a goal and gave up just 10 total shots last weekend in road wins at No. 14/19 N.C. State and UNC Greensboro. Graves notched both shutouts. It was the second career Big Ten weekly honor for both players.

The Mid-American Conference released their weekly Top Performances and three league alumnae were highlighted for their efforts. Buffalo goalkeeper Emily Kelly (Western NY Flash) made a season-high five saves in the 2-2 draw with the University at Albany on Sunday and her college team mate Adrianna VanCuyck (Rochester Lancers) led the Bulls to a 1-1 record on the weekend as the forward scored a goal and added an assist in their 3-0 victory over Houston Baptist on Friday night. Toledo's freshman forward Stephanie Currie (Grand Rapids FC Women) helped her team go undefeated this past weekend by scoring the game-winning goal against Oakland and the go-ahead goal against Wright State.

Central Connecticut State University midfielder Roma McLaughlin (New England Mutiny) was named the NEC Player of the Week as she registered two goals and an assist in a 1-0-1 week for the Blue Devils. The 2018 NEC Rookie of the Year opened the scoring in CCSU’s 4-0 win over Iona on Thursday and on Sunday she came through in the clutch, finishing a cross from senior Shauny Alterisio (New England Mutiny) in the 89th minute to secure a 1-1 draw at Siena. Saint Francis midfielder Aubrey Suydam (Lancaster Inferno) was honored as a Prime Performer after she recorded a pair of goals against Niagara and YSU.

Another Lancaster Inferno alum received individual recognition this past weekend as goalkeeper Kendra Clarke was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week for Georgia State University. Clarke allowed just one goal on nine total saves during the week to keep Georgia State unbeaten in its last four matches. Cailey Croson (HAR FC) nabbed Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week plaudits for the University of the Incarnate Word after she notched her first clean sheet of her UIW career in Friday’s 3-0 win over Prairie View A&M.

In other key performances... 2019 UWS Championship MVP Catarina Macario (LA Galaxy OC) tallied her first career hat trick as No. 3 Stanford powered their way to a dominant 9-0 win at San Francisco on Sunday. With 22 points (9g, 4a) in five appearances this fall, Macario has scored 61% of her point total from 2018 - a season in which she claimed the Hermann Trophy as the best player in NCAA Division I... defender Zoe Morse (Lansing United) and No. 4 University of Virginia continued their undefeated start to Fall 2019 with two more shutout wins against Georgetown and Minnesota over the weekend. UVA has not allowed a goal this season when Morse is on the pitch and allowed their lone score mere minutes after her substitution in a win over West Virginia... All-UWS Southwest Conference forward Christina Arteaga (FC Austin Elite) continued her scoring exploits for Abilene Christian University as she scored both goals in their 2-0 home opening win over the University of the Southwest.
