METUCHEN, NJ - Four weeks have gone by in the college season and when it comes to some particular United Women's Soccer (UWS) alumnae, familiarity most certainly does not breed contempt. Calgary Foothills Women's FC star Mya Jones picked up her second American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honor for the University of Memphis Tigers, as the deft midfielder had a goal and two assists in two wins over the past week. The U-20 Canadian international scored her first career goal and assisted on the game winner against Southeastern Louisiana and tallied an assist in a 2-0 win at Central Arkansas. Her Tigers team mate and former Indiana Union defender Stasia Mallin was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Week for being the anchor of a backline that collected its fifth and sixth shutouts.

2019 Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year and Xavier University star Samantha Dewey received her third recognition from the BIG EAST Conference this season by being selected to the Weekly Honor Roll once again. The Indiana Union talisman notched her second multi-goal game of the season for the Musketeers with two tallies (including the game winner) against Northern Kentucky last Thursday and added two shots in the scoreless draw at Cincinnati on Sunday. The Fairland, IN-native has now eclipsed the 20-goal barrier for both club (13) and university (seven) in 2019. DePaul University freshman and Michigan Legends forward Kristin Boos was also named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll after totaling four points (1g, 2a) in a 1-0-1 week for the Blue Demons.

University of Michigan goalkeeper Hillary Beall has continued her stellar play during the summer for club (LA Galaxy OC) into the fall. The 2019 UWS Defensive Player of the Year recorded a career-high 12 saves in Michigan's 2-1 win at No. 13 nationally-ranked Washington State which helped the Wolverines stop WSU's nation-leading 11-game non-conference unbeaten streak. Beall received her first career Big Ten Conference Goalkeeper of the Week accolade for her efforts. Former Detroit Sun defender Hannah Drkulec followed up last week's Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week citation with her Co-Offensive Player of the Week selection this week. Drkulec posted her first career two-goal game (including the game winner) for No. 20 Iowa in their 3-2 win at Notre Dame on Sunday. The victory extended the Hawkeyes' best start since 2013 (8-0) and also received their first national ranking since 2014.

In the Northeast Conference, UWS alumnae are becoming a weekly feature in their conference awards. Lancaster Inferno goalkeeper Sydney Bruckner received her second selection to the list of NEC Prime Performers as the junior net minder stopped a season-high 11 shots (including three saves in overtime) in Robert Morris' 1-0 double overtime win at Ohio. In the Mid-American Conference, a former Western New York Flash standout was lauded by the Mid-American Conference for her "Top Performance" at the University of Buffalo. Midfielder Kara Daly had a solid weekend for the Bulls as she played a role in two of Buffalo's five goals, as her team went 2-0 in Week Four action.

In other news... No. 3 University of Southern California bounced back from giving up a late equalizer to emerge victorious in overtime over Seattle 3-2 last Friday. UWS stars featured throughout USC's clutch performance (the win extended the program's best-ever start to 7-0) as Penelope Hocking (Santa Clarita Blue Heat) and Natalie Jacobs (LA Galaxy OC) scored the first two goals. In overtime, Hocking collected a long pass and slid the ball over to Tara McKeown (Santa Clarita Blue Heat) whose shot was blocked but the rebound was converted for the winning score... LA Galaxy OC midfielder Taylor Kornieck scored both goals for No. 24 University of Colorado but the Buffaloes lost in overtime by a 3-2 score to No. 6 Florida State last Thursday. Kornieck's LAGOC team mate and FSU freshman Jenna Nighswonger matched her feat with two goals as well that included the game winner in the 100th minute. 2017 UWS Player of the Year Deyna Castellanos scored the first goal for the Seminoles.
