METUCHEN, NJ - Connecticut Fusion defender and former University of Hartford star Hayley Nolan has received her first call up to the Republic of Ireland Women's National Team. Alongside Nolan will be former New England Mutiny midfielder and senior team veteran Claire Walsh, as the pair were selected in the 23-player squad by manager Vera Pauw ahead of a Women's EURO 2021 Qualifier this Tuesday, October 8th. The Girls in Green will host Ukraine at Tallagh Stadium in South Dublin (2:30 PM EDT kickoff).

Nolan enjoyed one of the most decorated careers in Hartford women's soccer history as a four-time America East All-Conference honoree. Hayley was also a three-time New England Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England selection and a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-East Region honoree. After her four-year career at Central Connecticut State University (2012-15), Walsh suited up for the Mutiny in their inaugural 2016 campaign in the East Conference of United Women's Soccer (UWS). Claire now plays for Peamount United F.C. in the Women's National League, the top flight in Ireland.

"I am delighted to get my first senior call up," said Nolan. "I have been working towards this since I came to the University of Hartford. I am hoping to build off everything I have learned here and bring it to the international stage."

Walsh was a substitute in Ireland's first game in Group I action as they defeated Montenegro by a 2-0 score on September 3rd at home. The win puts them temporarily in 2nd-place in the group, behind first-place Germany who have dominated in two victories. One of those came against Ukraine, who were defeated 8-0 by the Germans in their first game of group play. Next up for the Irish senior side is a road match at Greece on November 12th.
