Detroit Sun FC was founded in 2016 and is based in Detroit, Michigan. The women’s soccer club consists of a competitive first team and reserve squad. The Detroit Sun Reserves won the 2019 Michigan Soccer Association (MSA) State Cup Championship & the Michigan Premier Soccer League (MPSL) Title.

"This is an amazing addition to a strong Midwest Conference,” said Detroit General Manager Skipper Mukhtar. “We have an amazing rivalry between Livonia City, Rebels FC, NOSC and us in our state league that we are excited to bring to UWS-2. This will be some great soccer in the Midwest.”

Livonia City FC was founded in 2015 and is based in Livonia, Michigan. In their second year of existence, LCFC added a women’s program that competed in the Great Lakes Women’s league (open division and 30+ division). They are part of the MPSL women’s division where they will keep their reserve side and field a competitive team in UWS League Two.

"We are very excited to join UWS and want to thank the league for accepting us into the inaugural League 2 season,” said President of Livonia City FC Craig Beebe. “Our club continues to grow but always remembers how it started as a grassroots effort to allow more opportunity to play soccer in the city. Our UWS-2 side will play its home matches within the city limits of Livonia and is still discussing with several venues for what fits the needs of the club and will allow us to continue to grow and prosper.”

Livonia City FC is holding an open tryout this Sunday, February 23rd from 9-11 PM at Total Sports Wixom. Find out more about Livonia City FC by visiting LivoniaCityFC.com. You can also follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

“I’m excited to take NOSC to the next level of competition. Joining UWS League 2 is a honor for a club. We are proud of the hard work and growth of everyone involved,” said Head Coach Doug Steinard.

Their women’s team is part of the MPSL & now the newly formed UWS League Two. The competitive Rebels FC women’s team won the 2019 MPSL League Cup.

“I started Rebels FC because I had players who wanted to get experience playing at the next level, try to get noticed for possible scholarships,” said said Owner/Coach Robert Brinkman. “We have had four players receive scholarships. We are made up of high school, club, college and former college players. We’re excited to be a part of something new in the midwest, to showcase the talent of the women from the state of Michigan.”
