METUCHEN, NJ - United Women’s Soccer (UWS) is pleased to announce that Bat Country FC will join the Southwest Conference lineup for the 2020 season. Home games will be played in the stadium at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex. Batco joins FC Austin Elite and the San Antonio Athenians in the UWS Southwest. “We are excited to announce Bat Country FC as a member of UWS in what will be a revamped Southwest Conference,” said UWS Commissioner Joe Ferrara, Jr. “With FC Austin Elite and San Antonio Athenians recording crowds of over 1,000 spectators last season, the state of Texas continues to be recognized as a soccer hotbed. The competitive integrity of a team is obviously at the forefront for UWS, but operational standards are just as important for a team to retain membership. Batco fits that mold.”

Bat Country FC was founded in 2017 and is based in Austin, TX. The organization fields both men’s and women’s soccer sides comprised of local and international players. Batco aims to help players develop into world class talent and prepare them for the professional ranks. They also focus on developing local talent by providing an opportunity to train and compete at a high level.

The club initially began as a personal training program for international student athletes looking to train over the summer in preparation for their college season. The club has since evolved into an outlet for players to gain more exposure by competing in a national pro-am league.

The women’s team will be coached by Frankfurt, Germany-native Tristan Long. Long played for Eintracht Frankfurt up to the U17 level and then for the Austin Lonestar Soccer Club. Tristan attended Tyler Junior College and Lubbock Christian University before returning to Germany to graduate from Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln. The Eintracht Frankfurt U23 side was the next stop in his playing career and he also competed in Denmark.

“We are excited to be a part of the future of this league and helping grow support for women's soccer,” said Long. “We spent a lot of time watching UWS games last year. With the caliber of players coming out of the league and going pro, we feel this is the best option for our players to challenge themselves over the summer while taking their next step in their footballing journeys.”
