United Women’s Soccer welcomes Eastern Metro Detroit-based team

Metuchen, NJ – United Women’s Soccer is excited to announce the addition of Eastern Metro Detroit-based club, Michigan Burn. The newly-launched women’s team is set to begin play in the Great Lakes Division in 2023.

“We are excited to welcome the Michigan Burn to UWS,” said League Commissioner Joe Ferrara. “The organization has shown a commitment to providing a pathway to the collegiate and professional level for its female players by investing in the league.”

Based on the eastern side of Macomb County, MI, the Michigan Burn was founded in 2006 to provide the best possible development and playing environment to ensure players and teams meet their full potential. The club has over 50 teams, and is adding a UWS team as an extension of their premier girls youth program.

“The inclusion as a new member club into UWS League One for 2023 further demonstrates our commitment to growth and development by offering female players the opportunity to play and compete at the highest levels possible while continuing to grow as a club in Michigan,” said DOC/Club President Joe Gallagher. “We look forward to this new journey with UWS.”

Michigan Burn’s UWS team will be led by Head Coach, Christian Aguiluz who holds USSF and UEFA coaching licenses and is a United States Soccer Federation/US Club Soccer Grassroots Coach Educator.
