Metuchen, NJ — Week 3 of the UWS Summer of Soccer looks to showcase some talented sides while also providing a glimpse into the future of the league with some tough matchups.

East Division

Friday, May 26

Worcester Fuel FC vs Albany Rush

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Venue: Clark University

A home opener in the East conference as Worcester Fuel looks to get their season on track after an opening defeat to the NE Mutiny in Match Week one of the season. Albany has a different plan as they want to grow off their opening season win and start the 2023 campaign with two victories.

Saturday, May 27 

FC Berlin vs Erie Commodores 

Start Time: 6:00 PM EST

Venue: Coyer Field

Coming off a hard-fought 2-2 draw, the Erie Commodores travel to Coyer Field to take on an FC Berlin side that is looking to make a name for itself in 2023. FC Berlin ended the 2022 campaign with a negative goal difference and hopes to show a different side this season.

Flower City Union vs BC United

Start Time: 2:00 PM EST

Venue: Rochester Community Sports Complex

Both teams fell short in earning 3 points in their opening game and are now looking at this match as an opportunity to get started on the right foot. Both Flower City Union and BC United are debutants to the UWS this season and had different results as Flower City Union played a solid FC Buffalo side while BC United split a point with Keystone FC. This game has all the makings for a fun one that you need to tune into.

FC Buffalo vs Steel City FC 

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Venue: Williamsville South HS

FC Buffalo spent the 2022 offseason regrouping and looking for ways to build off their success last year. If their first match was an indication of what to expect, the East Division needs to be prepared for a battle. Steel City FC travels to Williamsville South HS in hopes of sending their own message after a hard-fought 2-2 draw in match week 2 of the UWS season.

Midwest Division

Saturday, May 20 

Indiana Union vs Cincinnati Sirens

Start Time: 6:00 PM EST

Venue: Trinity Sports Park 

Indiana’s Trinity Sports Park is the setting for this game which sees a consistent Indiana Union side hosting Cincinnati Sirens. The Sirens are a side that walked away from their previous match with a bit of success as they drew with fellow newcomer Edgewater Castle.

West Division

Saturday, May 27

SC Blue Heat vs Reno Vikings

Start Time: 7:30 PM EST

Venue: College of the Canyons

It is a new year of opportunity for SC Blue Heat and along with opportunity comes expectations from a side that has had two offseasons that many dream of. SC Blue Heat has helped many of their athletes reach the next level and this year promises to have some names that you will see in the pro ranks someday. The Reno Vikings head to Southern California after a weekend that saw them drop their first match in UWS while they prepare for another battle.

Sunday, May 28

Calgary Foothills vs Los Angeles Soccer Club

Start Time: 3:00 PM EST

Venue: Broadview Park

West division champs, Calgary Foothills look to continue its strong form dating back to 2022 while also making sure people don’t overlook them as the team to beat in the division this season. LASC meanwhile intends to have a say in the division as a potential breakout team in UWS this summer.

United Women’s Soccer (UWS) is a national pro-am league founded in December 2015 on the basis of providing equality, opportunity, and respect for the women’s game. UWS has proven to be an innovative league that has paved the way for the further advancement of women’s soccer. Eighty-plus teams based in the United States and Canada comprise two distinct levels of competition: UWS and UWS League Two (UWS2).

With over 38 NWSL draftees & 100 professional contracts to its name, UWS provides high-level competition for college players, aspiring & former professionals, and international stars. The season runs from May until the end of July, culminating in a National Championship.
