United Women's Soccer UWS national pro-am league women's soccer Lancaster Inferno Lancaster PA

Metuchen, NJ — It’s a big weekend in the Summer of Soccer for UWS as many teams look to set the bar for others to catch while others are looking to find a way to stay in the race for playoff contention.

Great Lakes Division

Friday, June 2

Futsal Factory vs Nationals SC

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Venue: Dexter HS

Futsal Factory looks to get their first 3 points of the 2023 season as they play host to Nationals SC who plays their first match. Nationals SC was the Great Lakes runner-up in 2022 and has hopes of finishing in the top spot this time around. Look for Futsal Factory to be prepared as they have a game under their belt already and it wasn’t the result they expected.

Saturday, June 3

MI Legends vs Michigan Stars

Start Time: 3:00 PM EST

Venue: Legacy Center

A first outing of the season for both of these teams in a division that rivals look to control, this matchup will be important for them as neither wants to drop points or split in a very tough Great Lakes Division of the UWS.

Sunday, June 4

Michigan Jaguars vs Michigan Stars

Start Time: 3:00 PM EST

Venue: Walled Lake Central

The Stars have a very difficult task playing back-to-back matches in the span of 24 hours as they travel to Walled Lake Central for a matchup against a determined and hungry Jaguar side that was impressive in their opening 5-0 over Futsal Factory.

East Division

Friday, June 2

FC Buffalo vs Flower City 1872

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Venue: Williamsville South HS

The second match of the season for these clubs is one to keep an eye on. Back on May 20th, a determined FC Buffalo team came out and put 6 in the net against a Flower City side who were playing their first UWS match. Flower City 1872 looks to derail a team that has hopes of making its mark in 2023.

Coppermine vs Keystone FC

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Venue: Coppermine Norris

The preseason East favorites Coppermine prepares for its second match of the season against a Keystone FC team looking to improve after a draw in their first match. Keystone has the experience of a team looking to make waves in a very tough division that has 3 teams yet to play their first game, meaning Keystone will want to take make sure they can get all 3 points.

Saturday, June 3

NJ Copa FC vs Coppermine

Start Time: 2:00 PM EST

Venue: St. Joseph HS

A short turnaround for Coppermine who travels to New Jersey to take on a NJ Copa FC team that didn’t have the 2022 season they expected. It will be interesting to see how Coppermine lineups for this game having played just 19 hours prior at home. NJ Copa FC has some local talent looking to make their mark on the Summer of Soccer and return the side to the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

Sporting CT vs Worcester Fuel FC

Start Time: 4:00 PM EST

Venue: Xavier HS

Sporting CT plays its second game this week after a midweek derby and looking to improve. Worcester Fuel FC comes to town looking to make some noise and get their first win of the season in the East.

Albany Rush vs Scorpions SC

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Venue: Union College

East division-leading Albany Rush gets ready for a Scorpions SC team that is looking to improve from a 15-point 2022 season that was perhaps subpar for the club in many eyes. Albany will want to be hungry to get a positive result with FC Buffalo hot on their tails for the top spot in the East.

Maine Footy vs CT Rush

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Venue: Deering HS

Maine Footy could be the story of the 2023 season in the East after a draw last time out against a solid Mutiny team. CT Rush is coming off a physical match in the Nutmeg Derby and looking to keep their season moving in the right direction.

Sunday, June 4

Lancaster Inferno vs BC United

Start Time: 6:00 PM EST

Venue: Conestoga Valley HS

BC United will be coming in fairly confident after a recent victory over Flower City FC, and a draw against Keystone FC. Lancaster Inferno will be determined to earn the win in their home opener and make their mark in the East as they have historically accomplished in past seasons.

Steel City FC vs Erie Commodores

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Venue: Founders Field

May 20th was not too long ago and these two sides gave us a matchup that had a bit of everything in a draw that both teams might have felt as though it was a loss. Erie was able to snag 3 points in their next match while Steel City left all 3 in Buffalo. Look for this match to be physical with neither side wanting to budge or leave even a point on the pitch.

Midwest Division

Saturday, June 3

Cincinnati Sirens VS RBFC Elite

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Venue: Fairfield Stadium

The Sirens have been looked at closely by many in a wide-open division in UWS. RBFC comes into the season with some familiar faces on the team sheet looking to improve off of a 2022 season. Cincinnati has started the season well, taking 4 points from 2 matches with hopes and dreams of being the top team in the division and the Elite having plans of their own in 2023.

Edgewater Castle VS Indiana Union

Start Time: 8:30 PM EST

Venue: Fire Pitch

Edgewater looks to keep pace with Cincinnati after their 2-2 draw on May 20th. Indiana has their sights set on getting on track after an opening 2-0 loss to Cincinnati. Both teams showed great qualities in their opener and with some more time on the training pitch, it should be expected that both teams come out strong in hopes of sending a message to the rest of the Midwest division.

Southwest Division

Friday, June 2

San Antonio Athenians vs ATX Blues

Start Time: 8:00 PM EST

Venue: Soccer Central

The Summer of Soccer kicks off deep in the heart of Texas as National Finalists, SA Athenians return to the pitch for their first game of the 2023 season against a new team out in Austin in ATX Blues. The Southwest won’t be deep with teams but will be with talent as any of these four sides could be representing Texas in the Finals in July.

Sunday, June 4

San Antonio Runners vs Luxoria FC

Start Time: 1:00 PM EST

Venue: Cibolo

A matchup between two very physical teams, the Runners look to better their 2022 6-point season and stir the pot in San Antonio as they face a Dallas-based side in Luxoria FC that turned some heads last season and look to cement their name as the team to beat in a very tough division.

West Division

Saturday, June 3

FC Arizona vs Calgary Foothills

Start Time: 8:00 PM EST

Venue: Campo Verde HS

The long road trip for Calgary continues after a Thursday trip to California and off to the Desert of Arizona for what will be a heavyweight battle for two teams looking to sit atop the division. FC Arizona made some big international announcements this past week in a move that should really add to the strength and depth of an already solid team sheet.

Sunday, June 4

Los Angeles Soccer Club vs SC Blue Heat

Start Time: 5:00 PM EST

Venue: Master’s University

A Hollywood matchup in Southern California for what could be the “Hollywood Derby” as LASC hosts SC Blue Heat. Both of these sides had different results last weekend with LASC dropping points in Calgary and Blue Heat making a statement in their first matches of the 2023 season. Control of the West division is in the plot and it could go a long way in creating a fairy tale ending for one of these sides.
