The UWS East side bolster their offense for the upcoming season

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The New England Mutiny have officially announced two more signings to their Summer 2016 roster as the veteran forward duo of Kate Howarth and Rachel Ugolik will return to the team. Their work rate and scoring punch will help the Springfield, Massachusetts-based team as they battle for the East Conference title and berth into the UWS National Championship (July 30-31).

“It's great to have Kate and Rachel returning to play for the Mutiny again this season,” said New England Mutiny owner Joe Ferrara, Jr. “Individually, they are both very dynamic and with this year being their third consecutive season playing together, we are looking for that continuity to pay dividends in Coach [Joe] Abele's system.”

F - Kate Howarth - Grand Blanc, MI - Univ. of Miami (N.E. Mutiny)
F - Rachel Ugolik - Hamden, CT - Providence College (N.E. Mutiny)

Howarth served as team captain last season for New England and led the team in goal scoring (7). In fact, the three-year veteran is now one of the all-time leading scorers in Mutiny history (23 goals, 8 assists). The former Miami Hurricane star first joined the team during the 2012 WPSL Elite season. Her exploits that season (9 goals, 4 assists) landed her a spot with the Boston Breakers of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in 2013.

“We are all looking forward to this league,” said Howarth. “Higher standards and better competition is always the goal and I think this league will provide that for both college kids and players trying to make it to the next level. Looking forward to competing and winning!”

Ugolik - also a three-year Mutiny veteran - is coming off her strongest season at Providence College last fall for Head Coach (and former Mutiny assistant) Sam Lopes. She started all 22 games for the BIG EAST Conference runner-ups (five goals, three assists). During the season, Rachel was named the BIG EAST and ECAC Division I Offensive Player of the Week as she tallied seven points in two wins against Northeast regional foes Brown and Boston College.

“I’m very excited to be back with this team and even more excited about the new league!,” said Ugolik.
