Saturday’s match to raise awareness of “Antonio Forte Transplant Fund Trust”

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - This Saturday’s home match for the Lancaster Inferno will serve as a fundraiser for the “The Antonio Forte Transplant Fund Trust.” Ten year-old Tony Forte was born with a rare intestinal disease known as Hirschsprung’s Disease which was diagnosed when he was just six days old. This June 28th, 2016 he will have spent six years on a wait list at the Miami Transplant Institute in Miami, FL.

Saturday’s game against the New York Magic at Millersville University’s Pucillo Field (6:00 PM EST) will be presented by Anytime Fitness in conjunction with Donate Life PA.

“We have partnered with Anytime Fitness to bring awareness of not only Tony's cause but also awareness about the importance of organ donation,” said Lancaster Head Coach Francisco Cleaves.

Hirschsprung’s Disease has greatly impacted Tony’s life. He is unable to attend to school because of the medical devices that keep him alive; he’s unable to eat a full meal; he cannot swim or shower; and participating in sports, or simply playing with other children presents a risk of infection. Tony is awaiting a stomach, small & large intestine, liver and pancreas transplant.

As with any major illness, health insurance or Medicaid will not cover costs associated with the transplant other than the surgery itself. All recuperation costs, as well as pre and post-op related costs are not covered. This is where “The Antonio Forte Transplant Fund Trust” steps in to help de-fray those bills.
