BRIGHTON, MI - After releasing its first round of expansion last month, United Women’s Soccer (UWS) is proud to officially announce that Michigan Legends F.C. will compete in the Midwest Conference for the Summer 2017 season. MLFC will join Detroit Sun F.C., F.C. Indiana, Fort Wayne United F.C. and Grand Rapids F.C. as the fifth team in the newly-formed conference.

“We are excited to have Michigan Legends F.C. join UWS,” said League Director Joe Ferrara, Jr. “They have the infrastructure to give its players a professional experience. Legacy Center is a state-of-the-art facility and as an expansion team, they have met all the standards that we look for in an organization.”

The Legacy Soccer Organization and the Legacy Center have acquired the rights to this new franchise that will participate in the UWS Midwest. Legacy Soccer Organization chose MLFC as their team name and this expansion of LSO helps further their mission to offer all levels of play.

“Legends F.C. is the penultimate step for our soccer organization,” said MLFC General Manager Ryan Carriere. “From Little Legends to the newly formed Legends F.C., the Legacy Center is now hosting soccer development from 18 months of age to semi-professional.”

Michigan Legends F.C. will strive to create the most professional women’s soccer organization in Michigan. Along with great soccer, the team will be community oriented and invested in youth soccer development.

“Our goal is to supplement player needs giving each player a true professional experience that will enhance their collegiate or post-college experience,” said MLFC Director of Player Personnel Kevin Oakley. “Our team will have a dedicated athletic trainer, sports masseuse, nutrition expert and performance training staff.”

The team will play in the 160,000 square foot Fieldhouse at Legacy Center which features Grade 2 FIFA certified turf. MLFC is pursuing experienced candidates to fill the team’s coaching positions. Interested candidates should send a cover letter and resume to rcarriere@legacycentermichigan.com. Formal interviews will take place this month.

Any interested players should contact Director of Player Personnel Kevin Oakley at koakley@legacycentermichigan.com. Tryouts for Legends F.C. will be held April 15th from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Legacy Center in Brighton, MI. Individual workouts will be offered.
