Katherine Alvarado signs on for the 2016 UWS champions

SANTA CLARITA, CA - The defending United Women’s Soccer (UWS) champion Santa Clarita Blue Heat have added another Costa Rican international to their 2017 roster. Santa Clarita are pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Katherine Alvarado for the upcoming summer season in United Women’s Soccer, pending league approval.

“This shows we are all about quality in this league, only the best,” said Blue Heat Technical Director and Club Owner Carlos Marroquin, who could not be more excited to add more international experience to his team. “Someone of Katherine’s experience, passion and drive will be crucial in defending our title in an ever-growing league. I am committed to bringing the best to the city of Santa Clarita and to UWS.”

Currently playing for Deportivo Saprissa in Costa Rica, Alvarado has been a Costa Rican international since playing in the U-17 & U-20 Women’s World Cups in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Alvarado is excited to join Blue Heat in 2017 and brings a wealth of experience to the team that already boasts two Costa Rican internationals - forwards Melissa Herrera and Carolina Venegas.

“Soccer is my passion, its in my veins,” said Alvarado. “We are a soccer family and I’m happy to have the chance to show the quality our of play and skill with my national teammates in Santa Clarita.”
