Off the pitch, after a deliberation process that took a variety of factors into consideration (record, strength of schedule, travel concerns, etc.), the “wild card” seed in the four-team field of the 2017 UWS Championship has been decided. Midwest Conference runner-up Detroit Sun FC (7-2-3) has been awarded the fourth & final spot in this weekend’s tournament, which kicks off on Friday afternoon at Grandville High School in Grandville, MI. West champion Santa Clarita (8-0 West) were first to automatically qualify while Grand Rapids FC Women (10-1-1) won the Midwest playoff for the second berth.
