METUCHEN, NJ - United Women's Soccer (UWS) has officially announced the alignment and schedule for the 2018 season in the East Conference. Nine teams will take the pitch in the UWS East this summer with the Connecticut Fusion hosting the New England Mutiny on Friday, May 11th (7:00 PM kickoff) at Farmington Sports Arena in the conference opener. The Fusion are one of two new organizations in the East Conference this season alongside the Worcester Smiles, who kick off their inaugural season on Saturday, May 12th when they host the New York Surf at Foley Stadium (7:00 PM kickoff).

The rematch of the 2017 East Final happens on opening weekend, with the defending conference champion Long Island Rough Riders traveling to the scene of their title-winning accomplishment on Saturday, May 12th (4:30 PM kickoff). New Jersey Copa FC will look for redemption for their only home loss in team history at Saint John Vianney High School. Long Island opens their home campaign on Saturday, May 19th (5:00 PM kickoff), hosting the Western New York Flash at Michael J. Tully Park. The top two teams in the final regular season standings will face off in the 2018 East Final on Tuesday, July 17th for the automatic qualifying spot in the four-team UWS National Championship (July 20-22).
"We're expecting as exciting a season in the East Conference in 2018 that we had last year," said UWS Commissioner Joe Ferrara, Jr. "The race for the East champion this past season came down to the last weekend of the regular season with five teams still in contention for conference championship."
