Mutiny tip their cap to the states of Massachusetts & Connecticut

SPRINGFIELD, MA - As the New England Mutiny heads into its 19th year in operation tonight with their United Women's Soccer (UWS) East Conference road opener at the Connecticut Fusion, the long-time organization has announced their new team logo and primary kit colors for the 2018 season. This goes in hand with the evolution of the Mutiny brand as the team is on the verge of announcing more exciting developments for its future in the coming weeks.

"The new logo has a modern design that translates well in a new generation but at the same time reflects our history over the course of nearly 20 years," said New England Mutiny owner Joe Ferrara, Jr. "The Mutiny will be dedicated to providing both professional and collegiate opportunities to its players."

Key elements of the new logo:

- the blue & green circles represent the two distinct pathways in Mutiny player development: one, the path to college with our youth program and serving the needs of the student-athlete; and two, the road to the professional & international ranks via the Mutiny and UWS, both domestic and abroad.

- the blue and green colors are two of the official colors of the State of Massachusetts. The third state color - cranberry - will be used on our game day warm up tees. The green is neon for a more modern look; the blue is a shade of azure which pays homage to the many Connecticut-born players that have played for the Mutiny. Azure blue is used on the state crest of CT.

- the four soccer balls represent the four leagues the Mutiny have played in over the course of its 19 year-history: W-League, WPSL, WPSL Elite, UWS.

- the use of "soccer club" as opposed to "football club" which is an international moniker. And the use of "Est. 1999" for the year the organization was born.

The Mutiny open their 2018 season on the road on Friday, May 11th (7:00 PM) when they commence the local derby against the Connecticut Fusion. New England's home opener occurs on Saturday, May 19th (7:00 PM) when they host the Rochester Lancers at East Longmeadow High School.
