UWS team cultivates working relationship with Houston Dash of NWSL

HOUSTON, TX - United Women's Soccer (UWS) is excited to announce that the Houston Aces and HAR FC will complete the Southwest Conference for the 2018 season. The Aces are one of the charter members of UWS and have played in the West Conference for two seasons. Houston will play its matches at the Houston Sports Park, which is the Official Training Facility of the Houston Dash of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).

For the 2018 season, the Aces and Dash have expanded its working relationship by allowing player exchange opportunities. The Aces roster will be made up of post-collegiate players, current professionals and international players along with players from the NWSL side as needed. HAR FC will be Houston's collegiate affiliate, thereby allowing NCAA student-athletes to play.

"The Houston Aces and HAR are very pleased to be two of the members of the new Southwest Conference," said Aces co-owner Pascal Piazza. "The growth of UWS to the Southeast and the Southwest will add newly skilled teams to the existing excellent teams."

In 2016, the Aces were just two minutes from a West Conference crown when a late goal by the Colorado Pride tied the match at 2-2 and allowed the Santa Clarita Blue Heat to take the crown in year one.

"I am pleased that we were able to construct an ultra-competitive Southwest Conference," said UWS Commissioner Joe Ferrara, Jr. "The Aces have been a catalyst for growth of UWS. Their agreement with the Dash marks the third such relationship with a NWSL team in our league."

The Southwest Conference alignment consists of ASA El Paso, FC Austin Elite, North Texas Image, HAR FC and the Aces. Houston will kick off the 2018 season on Saturday, June 2 when it hosts ASA El Paso at Houston Sports Park.
