Gavorski paces high-powered Aces offense, Jacobs continues stellar play in LAGOC back line

Metuchen, NJ – Week VI kicked off the second half of the 2018 UWS Season and saw three of the four conference leaders answer tough challenges to maintain their spots at the top. East Conference leaders Rochester were able to grind out a 2-1 victory at home over a surging New Jersey Copa FC team while Calgary scored two early goals but held on for 70 minutes to see out a 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake Women, keeping their number one ranking in the West. And after picking up a convincing win over Fort Wayne earlier in the week, the defending UWS Champions Grand Rapids FC Women had to score twice inside the final 15 minutes to defeat Indy Premier on the road in order to stay atop the Midwest.

In a week that had a number of excellent offensive performances, Houston Aces striker Julie Gavorski continued her excellent start to the 2018 season by netting a hat trick in victory over FC Austin Elite, giving her the UWS Offensive Player of the Week nod. 2016 US Under-20 Women's World Cup team member Natalie Jacobs continues to excel in defense for LA Galaxy OC Women, earning UWS Defensive Player of the Week honors for her solid performance in a 4-0 victory over the Colorado Pride.
