Labbé posts conference clinching shutout, Crawford hammers home six goals during key road trip

Metuchen, NJ – As the UWS National Championship draws closer, Week IX confirmed the second of four conference winners as Calgary Foothills Women's FC defeated LA Galaxy OC Women last Friday night to claim the West title. Inferno Rush secured their spot in the East Conference Championship Game by winning two matches in the Western New York region while all the Midwest playoff teams that were in action picked up momentum building wins heading into the postseason.

Calgary Foothills Women's FC picked up a late equalizing goal against Santa Clarita in Week VIII, ensuring that a Week IX win over LA Galaxy OC Women would clinch their first West Conference title. Goalkeeper Stephanie Labbé came up big with an eight-save shutout to help clinch the West Conference crown, winning the UWS Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in 2018 as she also won the award back in Week IV. In the East Conference, the Inferno Rush picked up road wins against the Rochester Lady Lancers and the Western New York Flash to stay atop the conference standings. The teams' scoring load was carried by Haley Crawford, who scored a pair of goals against Rochester and was responsible for all four goals against the Flash, netting her the UWS Offensive Player of the Week award. She becomes the fourth Inferno Rush player to win a UWS Player of the Week award in 2018, joining Tesa McKibben (Week III) in winning the Offensive Player of the Week along with Defensive Player of the Week winners Kelly O'Brien (Week V) and Ashley Chilcoat (Week VIII).
