RSLW's North, LAGOC's Jacobs nab player awards, CFWFC's Flannery repeats as top coach

METUCHEN, NJ - With the 2018 United Women's Soccer (UWS) season concluding back on July 22, the league is excited to unveil the postseason awards to wrap up the campaign. There will be an Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year for each conference along with a Conference Coach of the Year. This year, the East, Midwest and West Conferences will all have a First and Second Team while the Southwest will have an All-Conference Team and an Honorable Mention list, as the newly formed conference fielded just five teams for the season.

West Conference Offensive Player of the Year - Hailey North (Real Salt Lake Women)

Despite Real Salt Lake Women finishing outside of the top-three in 2018, a shining spotlight of their campaign came in the form of talented striker Hailey North. The University of Utah product led the West in scoring with six goals and three assists for 15 points. North's standout moment of the year came in Week IX as she netted a hat trick, leading her team to a 4-0 trouncing of Santa Clarita on the road. North earned spots on the UWS Team of the Week twice in 2018 while picking up an honorable mention accolade in the final week of the year as well, after her one-goal, two-assist performance against So Cal Crush.

West Conference Defensive Player of the Year - Natalie Jacobs (LA Galaxy OC Women)

Jacobs posted one of the most consistent campaigns of any defender in the 2018 UWS season as she started every match for the expansion LA Galaxy OC Women side and helped them to a second place finish in the West. The University of Southern California back went the full 90 in all but one match this season and netted a pair of goals, including the opening goal in LA's 2-1 victory over the West Conference defending Champions Santa Clarita back in Week VII. In helping make the LA back line become one of the toughest teams to break down in the league, Jacobs was one of the main engines driving that defense.

West Conference Coach of the Year - Troye Flannery (Calgary Foothills Women's FC)

This is the second straight season where Flannery has earned the West Conference Coach of the Year accolade. After guiding Calgary Foothills Women's FC to a second place finish in the West last season, he recruited a very tough side to beat for this campaign and the results showed. Calgary raced out to an early lead in the standings and never looked back, while displaying a very neat and eye-pleasing brand of possession-based attack along the way. He and his staff guided the program to new heights in winning the West in 2018 and there's no doubt that he will look to get Calgary back to the UWS National Championship weekend in 2019.
