Three United Women's Soccer alumnae drafted into the pro ranks

CHICAGO, IL - The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) conducted their 2019 College Draft today at the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Convention in Chicago, IL. Three United Women's Soccer (UWS) alumnae were selected by NWSL teams: midfielder Lauren Milliet (5th pick, 2nd Round) by the North Carolina Courage; midfielder Alex Kimball (5th pick, 4th Round) by Utah Royals FC; and, midfielder/defender Sabrina Flores (7th pick, 4th Round) by Sky Blue FC.

Milliet is the sixth Colorado Pride alum ever to be selected in the NWSL College Draft. Lauren starred for Colorado during the 2016 UWS season, appearing in seven of the team's eight games. She was recently named a Mountain West Conference First Team at Colorado College and joins Jessie Ayers as Tigers drafted by NWSL teams. In 2015, Ayers was selected by FC Kansas City in the 3rd Round as the 26th overall pick.

Kimball was a familiar quantity for Utah, as she was on the Real Salt Lake Women roster this past season but has also played for FC Austin Elite of the UWS Southwest Conference in her career. She started 10 of the 27 games for the UNC Tarheels this past fall and tallied career highs in points (four goals, two assists) and minutes played (994).

Flores starred for LA Galaxy OC Women last summer as a 2018 All-UWS selection and appeared in eight matches. Sabrina was one of the leaders in minutes played (716) and tied for the team lead with five assists. She started all 18 games in her final season at Notre Dame and also tied for the team with five assists on the season. Flores is the fifth Irish player to be selected in the NWSL College Draft since the league was formed in 2012.
